“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”

- Samuel Beckett

Greta Yu Cong Lu

Greta creates digital films, garmented performances and theater as vehicles to explore ideas of family, female labor, and queer temporality. Through long takes and acute gazes, her films are interested in duration, space as evidence and defiance of social, historical and cultural narratives, and the body, which is at times purely instrumental while at other times, of debility, un(dys)functionality and liminality.

She studied Cinema and Media Studies, and Fine Arts from University of Pennsylvania. In 2019, she did performance with Sharon Hayes, Brooke O’harra and queer garment-making with Brad Callahan and Vincent Tilley. She collaborated with theater director Li Ning in partnership with The Physical Guerrillas company in China in the production of On November 10th, premiered in Beijing Fringe Festival. With performance, video and queer garment, she employs multi-media to explore queerness in the context of female labor, memory and landscape.
